Frequently asked questions.

Go to statefy.app and click Sign up. You will need a valid email address, a unique username and a display name. Passwords must be at least 8 characters long.
You can change your username once every 30 days. Your display name can be changed once every 7 days. Both can be updated from your profile settings.
Each statement has vote options (by default Agree and Disagree, or custom options set by the creator). You can only vote once per statement. Vote results are hidden until after you cast your vote, ensuring unbiased reactions.
Yes. Go to your profile settings and select Delete account. Your personal data is permanently removed. Past statements and comments will show as posted by a deleted account. Some data may remain in backups for up to 30 days.
Tap the three dots on any statement or profile and select Report. Provide a brief description of the issue. Our moderation team reviews all reports and takes action within 48 hours for serious violations.
If your account is banned you will see a message when you try to log in. Bans are issued for repeated or serious violations of our community guidelines. You can appeal a ban by contacting support@statefy.eu.
Visit the Statefy Verified page and fill in the application form. The team reviews all applications manually. Approval typically takes 3 to 7 business days. See the Verified page for full criteria.
Yes. Creating an account, posting statements, voting and commenting are all completely free. There are no ads on Statefy.

The short version: We only collect what we need to run Statefy. We never sell your data. We never run ads. You can delete your account at any time.

1Who we are

Statefy is a social platform where users post statements, vote on opinions and debate in comments. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it. Questions? Email privacy@statefy.eu.

2Data we collect

Account information

  • Email address — used for login, never shown publicly
  • Username — public, unique, chosen by you
  • Display name — public, changeable every 7 days
  • Password — stored as a secure bcrypt hash only
  • Optional: profile photo, bio

Activity data

  • Statements you post
  • Votes you cast
  • Comments and replies you write
  • Likes on statements and comments
  • Follow relationships

Technical data

  • IP address — for security and abuse prevention
  • Browser and device type
  • Timestamps of actions
  • Statement view tracking — to prevent duplicate counts

3How we use your data

  • To create and manage your account
  • To display your statements, votes and comments
  • To send in-app notifications about your activity
  • To detect spam, abuse or rule violations
  • To improve Statefy based on usage patterns
  • To enforce moderation decisions

We do not sell your data. We do not run advertising. We do not share personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

4Storage & security

  • Passwords are hashed with bcrypt — never stored in plain text
  • All connections use HTTPS encryption
  • Database access is restricted to authorised team members only
  • Regular backups are performed to prevent data loss

No system is 100% secure. If a breach occurs that affects your data we will notify you as required by law.

5Your rights

  • Access — Request a copy of the data we hold about you
  • Correction — Update your personal information at any time
  • Deletion — Delete your account and associated data
  • Portability — Request an export of your data
  • Objection — Object to certain uses of your data

6Cookies

Statefy uses browser localStorage to store your login token (JWT). We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies of any kind.

7Third parties

We may use trusted hosting providers to operate Statefy. These providers only access data necessary for their service and are bound by confidentiality agreements. We do not integrate advertising networks or cross-site tracking services.

8Children

Statefy is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has registered and we will delete the account promptly.

9Account deletion

When you delete your account: your email, password and personal details are permanently deleted, your username becomes available again, past statements show as [deleted account], and your votes are anonymised. Data may remain in backups for up to 30 days.

10Policy changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the date above and notify users via in-app notification for significant changes. Continued use of Statefy constitutes acceptance.
